    Question Primary language when viewing page

    Hello,

    I am only wondering if it is possible to change the primary language when viewing sites. I am using xubuntu 12.04.

    I hate to use it as an example, but in windows you could make it so that, i.e., if you went to youtube, google, (any site with multiple languages) it would automatically appear either in Russian, English, German etc in "regional language settings". I know there is the localization tab to change the menu and so forth, but is it possible to set default page language?

    How about View->Character Encoding?

    I think it might depend on the browser you're using...

    ..also, it will depend on the language configured for your Google account (or the account for which ever site you're visiting), and whether you are logged into that account or not.

    Chrome has some language-specific settings, but I think you'll find that they are more to do with the translation of the page content.

    Just had a little look, and I hope the following helps you:

    In Chrome you can rank the languages you would like to see the page in, for instance I have:

    1. English (UK)
    2. English
    3. Portuguese (BR)
    4. Portuguese

    So this will tell the servers to display English if they can.

    put this in your address bar to configure it: chrome://chrome/settings/languages#lang

    To do the same thing in firefox, open the preferences, go to the Content tab, and then you can choose your preferred languages
