I am using Virtualbox, Guest Addittions and both operating systems are updated. I also added my user to vboxusers group and it does not work. I was able to share files when I had Ubuntu 12.04 as host but now I do not know why this do not work with my Ubuntu 10.04. I had opened "/home" that was located in "media" but now it does not work with 10.04 host and 8.04 guest. That's all. Thanks.
right click on the folders you want to share and click SHARE. Right click and open PROPERTIES. Add permissions. I don't remember the steps in the 8.04 and 10.04 versions, but they shouldn't be too different from 12.04. I've listed the various ways, check them in your versions.
The system may add samba shares, or you may have to add it from Software Center. Either way, you will need samba to share and the permissions to share must be activated in both systems.
