Ctrl+Alt+T with the same result - an unusable empty black box

    Re: unable to open terminal

    Hi ,

@Thacker what did you hack ?
The terminal by default in Ubuntu is not a black-box. Is like a dark purple color or something like that.

Do you remember anything about .bashrc or .profile you involved with ?

Can you install another terminal and use it ?

Open synaptic package manager (if you have not installed , search on Software-Center) and in search box write lxterminal . Install lxterminall and see if you are able to work with it.
    Thanks

    NikTh,

What can I say - that's worked a treat and such a simple cure in the end; can't thank you enough.

    Kind Regards

    Thacker

    Re: unable to open terminal

Could it be as simple as a bad font color?

Right click in the terminal window, profiles, profile preferences, color tab, uncheck "use colors from system theme", choose text color white and background color black. You can change it to your preference after that, but at least you know if that was your problem.
