Question Installing Ubuntu To A New HDD

    Hey everybody!

I have Ubuntu 12.04 running on an 80 GB HDD, but what I want to do is install Ubuntu to my new 1 TB HDD. What I'd like to know is if I should download the Ubuntu image again or can I use the image I used before, which is Ubuntu 12.04. Since I've had 12.04, I've installed the updates for it, so I'm wondering if the Ubuntu image has those updates or when I install it again, I'll have to sit through the updates however much they may be. So I guess my question is, has the Ubuntu image changed to reflect the updates that have been released?

The image is the same. Updates download about 350 MB of data.

You may be able to copy your current disk with tar, then extract and install from the tar copy onto the new hard drive.

August 23 is supposed to be the 12.04.1 release. That then would include all updates thru about a week before when it had its feature freeze.
