Text Box Appears In Bottom Right Corner On Desktop

    Hello All,

I am just returning to the land of Linux.

    I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 x64.

The first thing I did was install Mumble (VOIP Client) to talk to my buddies while setting up my system and getting a game set up.

My push to talk key is F.

I noticed that if I do not have a window selected and hit F or any key for that matter a box appears in the bottom right hand corner filling with whatever key I am pressing.

This is quite annoying since I am holding f to talk most of the time.

Does anyone know how to disable whatever this is?

Have you tried another key? "F" is probably the "FIND" shortcut AKA the search bar. I would set your talking button to be something else and see if that helps.

Any key that displays something does this.

    All letters and numbers.

It is a little white box with an orange ring around it in the bottom right corner.

BTW hitting escape makes the box go away, but it would be nice to avoid letting it pop up.

The desktop is handled by Nautilus, the file manager. Nautilus have a feature that allows you to search for files as you type, e.g. when you have a file named "test", simply typing "test" will highlight that file for you.

    So the behavior is normal.

Is there anyway to disable this "feature"?
