    Restoring gnome panel (solved)

I am running Ubuntu 12.04. I persevered with Unity, but in the end I had enough of not being able to find things. So I removed Unity and installed Gnome.

My problem now is, when I log in I am missing the top and bottom panels.

I can get them by typing 'gnome-panel' in Terminal, which in turn has to be launched with CTRL-ALT-T. However I have to do this every time I log into Ubuntu, and I lose the panels if I close the terminal.

So how do I get it that I have the top and bottom panels as soon as I log in, without having to go through the Terminal?

    Thanks.
