I am currently running Ubuntu 11.10 as my only OS. I have also just downloaded damn small linux. Would anyone be able to tell me how i can dual boot these two operating systems?

Grub will work with both. Just update it after the second install if it doesn't do it automatically.
Code:sudo update-grub
Just Give Me the Beans!
do DSL frugal install and grub will be automatically updated
