    I currently have 4 problems
    1. I tried setting up pppoe connection using sudo pppoeconf and the net didnt connect even though I gave all the correct details.
    2. What is worse is at boot time, ubuntu tries detecting network settings and when it doesn't networking is disabled.
    3. Shutting down takes forever and
    4. I tried removing the settings set up by pppoeconf by following instructions here http://ubuntuincident.wordpress.com/tag/disable-pppoe/ and when i try restarting networking it gives the error
RTNETLINK answers: No such process and the terminal hangs

    Please help..

    Re: PPPOE giving me headaches

I know getting a router will make my job very simple. I just want to know how to do it directly. In my windows machine its really easy job. Just have to go to control panel and create new connection. Put username and pwd. That's it.
