I have no desire to reply to a forum full of committed Windows users. I don't want them trolling here, and I won't troll them.

Actually most of the posts are anchient. The ones who claim Linux is rubbish probably tried it about 5 years prior to posting, somebody said you need to recompile the kernel to install stuff, and have a knowledge of C++. I only know basic BASIC.

Judging from the posts... that thread is several years old anyway!

I decided to edit my replies in that forum. I have no intention of trolling.

I'm sure they didn't notice, as most of the posts were from 2002.
It's really weird seeing a Windows forum.

Re: A view of Linux from the front...

I joined that forum as I had a couple of questions about Windows Vista.

I actually have a non-partisan approach to operating systems, in that in my experience I have supported a variety of systems including Windows NT, XP and Mac OSX.

I first ran Linux back in 1998, and because I didn't know what I was doing made a complete mess of it, since then I have had a bit time to figure out how it all works. Funny enough, my decision to start using Ubuntu was predicated on running a shell account (netbsd) for a month and then finding an item about ubuntu on slashdot where I post occasionally.

I think every operating system has its strengths and weaknesses.
