Question 11.04 - Font issues in certain programs

I'm having an issue where in certain programs that are in "beta" for Linux according to their devs, mainly Spotify and Skype, most text shows as small (9- or 10-point) monospace font. In certain instances, namely selected items, the font shows a 9- or 10-point bold serif font, as shown in the screenshot below.

It is difficult for me to read the text when this happens. Changing the font settings in System Settings > Appearance > Fonts has done nothing to rectify the issue.

Is there any way to fix this issue?
