Display problems like default option dark

    Hello,

During several Ubuntu releases, in dialog boxes the default option is dark on black which makes it difficult to interpret what this default option does.

Another problem is that in HTML forms the fields are barely visible due to the edges blending in with the background.

Lastly I have often found it difficult to distinguish selected text from text that is not selected.

It should be easy to tweak those settings but I have not been able to find out where.

One thing I miss since installing Precise is that I do not know the key sequence that displays the Unity shortcuts. Right now it is easy invoking Gnome Do, but I am not able to find the keyboard shortcut screen

What sort of session are you running? Gnome or Ubuntu or Ubuntu 2D?
If you're running a Gnome session you shouldn't be able to see the Unity shortcuts.
If you're running Unity 3D, a long press of the super key should bring up an overlay screen of shortcuts.
Have you tried changing themes, whichever session you happen to be using?

Are both issues browser-related? If so, could you mention which browser(s) you are seeing this with?

Question Re: Display problems like default option dark

    Hello,

The dark background on the default buttons has been with me several upgrades. Right now I am authenticating with the Ubuntu option. I am pretty sure this dark default button has been with me in Gnome Classic.

The theme I am using is Radiance, although I have tried other themes. I do not know what steps I have gone through searching for a lighter background on my default button without success.

I am pretty sure Gnome Do worked some time ago with Win-Space but now it does not seem to start. I do not know how to get the Unity shortcuts to work anymore. Holding Win down for a long time makes the numbers appear on the task bar. Win-S is lovely as it shows me all open windows.

Regarding the browser related difficulties, that is probably unrelated and was included due to mental drift.

    Thanks

Re: Display problems like default option dark

I have played extensively with all the options I have been able to find and in Precise I still get Dark Text on Dark Background default buttons. I am now using the Gnome Window Manager selected through the login screen. Very soon I am switching back to Unity as I have gotten used to it.

Any suggestions on what to tweak to get Default buttons that are easier to read?

    Love
