Can you see if gnome-media is installed
It is installed. Should I try uninstalling it?
No, I don't use xubuntu and the info i'm reading some areusing alsa and some oss so Idon't want you to install something that may screww thing up more.
run this and see if you have this file
If you don't use gedit change to your favorite file managerCode:gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
I have that file
Good it makes things easier, open the file again using this
scroll to end of file and enter this line:Code:gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
save/close to the etc folderCode:options snd-hda-intel model=auto enable=yes
Restart
check mixer for mutes
play some music
Sadly I had no luck
TRY
one at a timeCode:sudo alsa force-reload sudo apt-get install --reinstall linux-generic sudo apt-get install --reinstall libasound2
check mixer again for mute
play some music
I muted all the channels, then played music on full blast. From there I would just have one channel unmuted at a time, and tried all of them. I didnt hear any sounds.
Alright, each time just check that speaker/pcm controls are not muted
Try another jack on mobo maybe pin configurations are messed up.
What kind of motherboard
