No, I don't use xubuntu and the info i'm reading some areusing alsa and some oss so Idon't want you to install something that may screww thing up more.

run this and see if you have this file
    Code:
      gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
If you don't use gedit change to your favorite file manager

Good it makes things easier, open the file again using this

    Code:
     gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
scroll to end of file and enter this line:

    Code:
      options snd-hda-intel model=auto enable=yes
    save/close to the etc folder
    Restart
    check mixer for mutes
    play some music

I muted all the channels, then played music on full blast. From there I would just have one channel unmuted at a time, and tried all of them. I didnt hear any sounds.

Alright, each time just check that speaker/pcm controls are not muted
Try another jack on mobo maybe pin configurations are messed up.

I tried every jack and made sure it was muted. I'm not sure how to find out what kind of motherboard I have 8 jacks, including the headphone and mic inputs in the front. There are 6 in the back that don't seem to be working.
