Hello everyone, I would like to preface my support question with an introduction of the important bits - I am quite new to linux entirely and was given a Live disk of ubuntu's 12.04 release and installed it onto my laptop. Now I am having a little trouble understanding the process behind installing the device drivers for my scanner and printer. My scanner is a Canon CanoScan LIDE 110, which I believe I've found the necessary drivers for here: (https://launchpad.net/~info-g-com) via a quick forum search finding this topic: (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1033181&page=4). However, despite uncovering this information I am still clueless as to how to go about making use of it and getting the ball rolling with this whole procedure.

My printer is the Lexmark X2350. I have not yet attempted to install the drivers for it yet but a quick search uncovers the following topic which seems to be pertinent: (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=855415&page=2).

I suppose my question is for someone to explain the process to the layman, or someone like me who has been using windows for their entire life. I feel as if I am over complicating the matter and would much appreciate someone experienced to assist me by breaking it down. Thank you
