The package insists it's x.14. It lies and installes x.13. I have verified this by checking "Help" -> "About Firefox".

Well, in the absence of any other pointers or suggestions as to what my be wrong with my particular configuration, I am going to assume that the .deb itself is borked and wait until the newest release comes around and hope that that one actually upgrades me to a current version.

File this under yet another reason why your truly will never run a 64bit system again, at least until all these wacko incompatibilities are resolved.

    Kilz,

    The Mplayer plugin is broke.

Would you like to install the Mplayer Multimedia plugin?
    Install option (Yes=1 No=2)? : 1

The browser and plugins should now be installed.
But we need to set the ownership of the files to you.
After this last step the terminal will close by itself,

    Fix:
Go into your extracted ff32-3in1/ and run following
    perl -pi -e 's/mozilla-mplayer_3.31-1_i386.deb/mozilla-mplayer_3.50-1ubuntu3_i386.deb/g' 3in1

Hi there, I've installed firefox32 via the script, but since this, I seem to be unable to install or use add-on's, they don't appear in the menus and I am unable to install them, I get "unspecified error" when ever I try to install a add-on. Can you help?

    Thanks.
    Kind Regards, Leona

    [QUOTE=Kilz;5145188]Have a wonderful day.

I'd really prefer to stay with Firefox since, you know, it's what I'm used to and can't see any reason why I should switch.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk or what have you, but have you actually installed the .deb that I referenced in my earlier message? I swear, I was running version x.12, downloaded that .deb file, which claimed it was for x.14, ran it and wound up with version x.13. I'm not making this up.

I have done an exhaustive search of my entire machine and have found exactly two versions of Firefox: the 64bit 2.0.0.14 and the 32bit 2.0.0.13 (which is what I actually want to run). When I download the .deb again and try to run it, it merrily fails, telling me that version x.14 is already installed.

I mean, I could just be out of my frickin' mind, but something seems whacked here. I'd really like to know the following:

    1. Is it just me and I happen to have incurred the wrath of some ancient god that refuses to allow me access to 2.0.0.14?

    2. Is there another location I can get a .deb that will install the 32bit version of 2.0.0.14?

    3. Is there some magical set of steps I can perform that will allow me to upgrade my version from 2.0.0.13 (which I have verified through Help/About) to 2.0.0.14?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64

Thanks for your script, it worked nicely for me.

For different reasons I wanted to uninstall it after checking it out (mostly because I decided to make the system a server later on and then firefox32 is just too much stuff)

It was quite tricky to do this because and I only managed it because I had dumped a list of installed packages and files earlier and could diff it against later. And still I am not sure if I got em all.

Basically I uninstalled the new packages and then removed /usr/lib32 (nothing besides firefox in it anyway) and /usr/local/firefox32. Anything else to keep an eye on? Some modified files in /etc or something?

Firefox 3 has not gone final, it is still in Release candidate testing.
