*edit it works now. All i did was uninstall the x64 version and reinstall it and now they both work.*
The plugins dont seem to work though i get
LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library /usr/local/firefox32/plugins/libflashplayer.so [/usr/local/firefox32/plugins/libflashplayer.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory]
for all the plugins but i checked and the file really does exist. What do I do?

Thanks very much! This all worked beautifully. Being new to Ubuntu (but a bit of experience in UNIX System V and other variants), I was hoping for the best. Your expert instructions were right on the mark. Cheers! Oh, and BTW: Firefox 1.5.0.6 gave me Flash and Java first time out after your mods. Cool!

I'm not having much luck at all.
Firefox32 installs fine, but I can't for the life of me get it to load plugins. I used the script.
No errors are reported here.Code::/usr/local/firefox32$ linux32 ./firefox
shows that no plugins are installed.Code:about:plugins
Clearly there are plugins above.Code::/usr/local/firefox32/plugins$ ls -al total 3388 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2006-08-22 22:37 . drwxr-xr-x 12 root users 4096 2006-08-22 22:32 .. -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 856 2006-08-22 22:47 flashplayer.xpt -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 2154768 2006-08-22 22:47 libflashplayer.so lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 62 2006-08-22 22:37 libjavaplugin_oji.so -> /usr/lib/j2se/1.4/jre/plugin/i386/mozilla/libjavaplugin_oji.so -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 19496 2006-07-28 18:38 libnullplugin.so -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 244412 2006-08-22 22:37 mplayerplug-in-gmp.so -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 981 2006-08-22 22:37 mplayerplug-in-gmp.xpt -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 244540 2006-08-22 22:37 mplayerplug-in-qt.so -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 981 2006-08-22 22:37 mplayerplug-in-qt.xpt -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 244572 2006-08-22 22:37 mplayerplug-in-rm.so -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 981 2006-08-22 22:37 mplayerplug-in-rm.xpt -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 245660 2006-08-22 22:37 mplayerplug-in.so -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 244860 2006-08-22 22:37 mplayerplug-in-wmp.so -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 981 2006-08-22 22:37 mplayerplug-in-wmp.xpt -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 981 2006-08-22 22:37 mplayerplug-in.xpt
And they supposedly have no missing dependencies. I symlinked ~/.mozilla/plugins and /usr/share/firefox32/plugins to /usr/local/firefox32/plugins, and still nothing. Even chowning to username:users has no effect and still no errors from FF. Where is it searching for the plugins??Code::/usr/local/firefox32/plugins$ linux32 ldd libflashplayer.so linux-gate.so.1 => (0xffffe000) libpthread.so.0 => /lib32/libpthread.so.0 (0x55840000) libm.so.6 => /lib32/libm.so.6 (0x55852000) libdl.so.2 => /lib32/libdl.so.2 (0x55874000) libX11.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libX11.so.6 (0x55877000) libXext.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libXext.so.6 (0x5595d000) libXt.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libXt.so.6 (0x5596b000) libXmu.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libXmu.so.6 (0x559b9000) libc.so.6 => /lib32/libc.so.6 (0x559ce000) /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x56555000) libXau.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libXau.so.6 (0x55afd000) libSM.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libSM.so.6 (0x55b00000) libICE.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libICE.so.6 (0x55b08000)
When I use the script's firefox32, it does say LD_PRELOAD of pangohack failed but that's it, and I don't suspect that is related.

do you have the universe and multiverse enabled?
and
You may not have a folder if this is on a newly installed dapper.
try this
Afterwards you should be able to delete it.Code:sudo chown -R trevor64:users /home/trevor64/Desktop
