    Cant shutdown/hibernate etc

Just dont a 12.04 install on a machine that had 11.10 and functioned perfectly.
Its multi user (with different destops LXDE and XFCE) but no user can suspend/hibernate/shutdown not even an admin. I have to sudo shutdown -... or just hit the mains.
I've hunted high and low and not been able to find a solution that works.

    Hi,

Do you have have 'shutdown' in your menu in Ubuntu ? Of course swap partition is the same size as your ram ?

I have shutdown/suspend/hibernate in the menus. The swap is 10G and only 4G ram.
