Forum Council agenda item: Rescind 1 week edit limit on posts.

For the Forum Council's 7-18-12 23:00 UTC meeting on the IRC channel #ubuntu-meeting. See: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ForumCouncilAgenda

The decision to limit the ability to edit a post for only one week should be rescinded. This will allow tutorials and HOW TO's to once again be on the forums and not just limited to the Ubuntu community wiki. Other methods should be found to encourage the volunteers writing HOW TO's and tutorials to add their content to the Ubuntu community wiki. Their ability to help other forum users in the way they feel is most useful and comfortable should not have been restricted by this new policy.

Those interested in this issue please attend the meeting.

    But remember:

So discussion should be limited to this thread, if it is permitted. Otherwise you can read the several threads on this topic on this sub-forum (last couple of pages) and the sticky in Tutorials and Tips: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1949027

You are too late, this has been discussed already and the decision has been made.

    See: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php...64&postcount=1

In order you re-open the issue you would need to bring some substantial new information to the table.

This is covered in the draft CoC

    http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~sabdfl/...eOfConduct.txt

Basically, we make decisions and move on.

The fact that you do not like the decision is not sufficient to re-open the discussion.

    One further note:

If you wish to discuss the issue, you are welcome to join #ubuntuforums any time.

There are many people, staff included, that will discuss the advantages / disadvantages of migrating to the wiki.

If, as a result of discussion on #ubuntuforums there are further issues for the FC it would be easy to add back to the FC agenda.

I will not be at next weeks meeting either way, and it is possible the other FC members may decide to add it to the agenda.
