    Re: problem realtek 8723 driver

Had the same problem on toshiba c850, made all the steps according to this thread
    http://askubuntu.com/questions/13963...not-recognized

downloading this version of the driver
    http://www.liteon.com/UserFiles/driv...09.2012.tar.gz

Actually the moment of pure happiness of working wi-fi was pretty short.. until first reboot. No wifi after reboot in 12.10 and surprisingly in win8 too.

Is there any way of making wifi still alive after reboot ?
Is this the only solution ?:

So what I did is to create a simple script and place it in /etc/rc6.d

    #! /bin/sh

    echo "Killing Wifi upon reboot"
    /usr/sbin/rfkill block 1

This is of course temporary until the bloody driver is supported in a new kernel but it makes the trick until then.

    Cheers

Does it spring to life if you simply load the module?
    Code:
    sudo modprobe rtl8723ae
If so, let's load it automatically on boot:
    Code:
    sudo su
    echo rtl8723ae >> /etc/modules
    exit
If that doesn't fix it, please post:
    Code:
    sudo modprobe rtl8723ae
    dmesg | grep rtl

    Let's try again:
    Code:
    sudo modprobe rtl8723e
    rfkill list all
    dmesg | grep rtl

It all looks pretty solid. Let's dig deeper:
    Code:
    iwconfig
    sudo iwlist wlan0 scan
"Oh, Ubuntu, you are my favorite Linux-based operating system" --Dr. Sheldon Cooper, Ph.D.

Please reboot so we have a clean slate and then run:
    Code:
    dmesg > neronly.txt
Find the text file in your user directory and paste it here and give us the link. Something weird is happening and so far, it eludes us.
