    New bare HD

I have a Dell 1150 laptop that I want to install Ubuntu 12.04 on. I ordered a new 80 GB harddrive and it probably does not have any OS on it. I have the 12.04 install on a CD but am wondering if I need to format & install a WIN OS on the new HD first before I install Ubuntu or can it be installed on a bare drive? I will have to remove the existing 32 GB HD first (only 1 bay - running XP) and install the new drive. Will this work?

You need not install Windows before installing Ubuntu. Boot from your Ubuntu installation media.
