Hello, I'm not able to fix the issue of inconsistent background colors for GNOME Classic Session panels via the methods that used to work in past (http://bit.ly/KTXdQe). Is there any other/new method for fixing this?
Hello, I'm not able to fix the issue of inconsistent background colors for GNOME Classic Session panels via the methods that used to work in past (http://bit.ly/KTXdQe). Is there any other/new method for fixing this?
Please try booting both the standard Gnome classic session and the Gnome classic (no effects) session to compare the differences.
Standard Gnome classic uses the Compiz window manager, whereas Gnome classic (no effects) uses Metacity.
I've found Compiz to have problems that I can't figure out
While it won't help you with Compiz you might find some of my notes here helpful:

Thanks for the reply. I use GNOME Classic with no effects, but tried to follow your advice and log in to the GNOME Classic session, although it seems to be broken, as I ended up on Unity interface (logged in twice to exclude the possibility of having mistakenly had clicked on 'Ubuntu' session).
Did you look carefully at the parts of this thread about editing panel properties?
If so also be sure to look here:

Just read carefully and particularly pay attention to the commands after I say "I personally find the following settings to be more consistently appropriate to obtain a usable out-of-box appearance in Precise"
BTW I just wanted to be sure we were both using the (no effects)/Metacity session
I've found Compiz to be a bloody mess for quite some time.
If push comes to shove you should be able to try a new profile:

Just skipped through the previous link, will take time to read these now. Thanks.
