    ipod on ubuntu

1-i have an ipod that is synced to my old mac. that mac's logic board is dead.
i just plugged the ipod into ubuntu for the first time and opened in Clementine, this is the msg that followed-

DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)

what does exactly mean. i only assume it is related to the permissions...

2- is there a way for me to change the permissions of the ipod? i do still have my old mac hdd (the one this ipod is synced to). in order to change the ipod permissions, could i use that harddrive to boot on my PC laptop? or would i need to find a mac?

You might also need to unpair and pair as explained in this thread.
I needed to after fixing the above error.
