    default desktop appearance

    Hi,

I'm used to workig on Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid).

I have just installed the latest version (12.01?) and I must say I don't understand why all the menu items have dissappeared. I used to be able to browse the major menu items... now I have to know what they are called from memory in order to bring them up.

Is it possible to revert back to the full menu system without sacrificing the latest features?

    Jim

Also give Unity a go, people who hated it to start with often come back and say they like it now.

You don't need to know the name of the program, just type what you're looking for. For update manager, say, type "update".
