    Change a device's PCI ID - possible?

    Can anyone tell me how to change the PCI ID of a device? I know that it is possible since google shows specific instances.

    I just need a generic step-by-step. This would be for a NIC so ethtool's native "-E" command would work if I could figure out the underlying mechanisms of how the ID is stored.

    Nevermind - this was a dual port NIC and the PCI ID was found under the secondary port. More info here:
