Update Manager Notifications (Unity)

I have my Update Manager set to notify me about other/recommended updates weekly (see image) but I never receive any notifications. How is the notification supposed to appear, is it a top panel icon, a zenity popup or what? Also can anyone confirm that the notifications are actually working in 12.04/Unity (in other words is it just me or is this a bug)?

I have a somewhat similar problem. I rarely get Update Available, but if I click on Check, I typically get several updates to download. Not a big deal, just odd that if I have it set to check daily, and it doesn't, why have it ?

I have the same problem. Looking for a fix in the forums. I'll post back here if I find anything.

IF you have your updates set to "download and install automatically", you may not get a notification.
Try "download automatically" or "display immediately".

I changed "When there are other updates" from "Display Weekly" to "Display Immediately" and the notifications returned. Thanks.
