Help setting up second monitor

I have a Radeon HD 6870 and a relative fresh installed precise.

I want to use the open source driver because i get too much image tearing with the catalyst driver and xinerama sucks.

The only problem i'm having with the open source driver is that when i try to use a panasonic plasma tv as my second monitor, the screen on tv has like 20 pixels cut off from each edge of the screen and i can barely see a bit of the unity bar. On the lcd monitor looks fine though.

The lcd monitor's screen is 1440x900 and the tv's is 1280x720

Don't have much experience with plasmas. Is there an "Auto" button / option for them? Or a way to shift horizontal and veritical position?

There's a button on the remote that says format and it changes the aspect ratio, the setting that fits better is one called COMP but that's the one that chops of the edges.

I don't think the problem is a tv setting because it fits well when using the proprietary catalyst driver.
