Grub rescue - external hard drive

Hey all

I wanted to install ubuntu on a external hard drive.
It installed well expect it comes up grub rescue.

It says " Error: file not found:
grub rescue>"
Can somebody help

Boot the LiveCD, install Boot Repair, and allow it to fix things for you. If it can't fix it, at least you will be able to run the boot info script from Boot Repair. Post the contents or link to the file it generates and we'll be able to give you informed advice.
