    Go to "System settings",

    "Details";

    You don't have to uninstall anything.

    There is always a way, but it might not be the best way, or your way!

    There's another way to do this through your Firefox preferences. Click on "Advanced" at the top. In the "General" tab there is something about checking if Firefox is the default browser, and there's a button next to it that says "check now." Click that and you'll be prompted to make Firefox your default.

    You can set Firefox as the default in the Firefox preferences as well;

    I know the feeling, it took me a while to get up and running. You could try Zorin, that works on a few machines where Ubuntu doesn't, I have no idea why;

    Various specialised distributions like your XBMC stuff are always going to cause problems when you are looking for help, because they just aren't "standard" and a lot of stuff may be missing, and many people wont know them very well.
