    Arrow Ubuntu 12.04 crashing regularly

Hi all, hope you can help me out here,

Ever since I upgraded to 12.04 I've been experiencing regular crashes on my computer; it just freezes. I am able to move the mouse, and if I'm watching a video or playing sounds the sound comes through as normal, just the display completely freezes except for my mouse cursor. I previously had 11.10 and upgraded to the 12.04 final beta and began to experience these crashes. I am aware that betas are notoriously buggy so when 12.04 was released instead of upgrading I did a clean install; This made no difference, in fact, the crashes are more common if anything. I don't use my computer for anything other than basic web browsing (ebay, facebook etc.) and the crashes occur most when I have more tabs open (3-4). I don't use any power hungry programs or do any video editing or anything that is resource heavy so I'm confused as to why it is happening.

    My System Specs:

    Asus P5QPL-AM Motherboard
    4GB DDR2 800MHz Kingston memory
    Pentium Dual-Core E5200 processor
    Asus EAX1550/TD/256M/A PCIe Graphics card
    800w PSU

Thank you for your time and I hope that someone can help me,

    Alex

    Have you run memtest?
    I'm thinking about it

Similar experience here, but not since upgrading to 12.04, but since a few days ago; it seems to have come with some of the regular updates. Touchpad will cease to work for no reason; or the keyboard, or both. And sometimes the system freezes, and that's the end of it.

Neither do I. And yes, it leaves you confused (and annoyed, of course).

    Hopefully someone can help?

    Thanks in advance,

Did you look into the system log files whether they contain any hint on what causes the crashes?

No, I didn't think of that. Thank you, I'll do it the next time it crashes, and will report it here.

I don't get a grub menu on startup so I don't have the option to use memtest
