Restart problem, Ugly fonts on Unity

Hello everyone,

I'm currently using ubuntu 12.04 and when I try to restart my laptop, the screen goes blank and the hard disk seems to be doing a lot of work, but after a while everything goes quiet and laptop never restarts. I have to do a cold reboot each time this happens.

Second issue is with my desktop fonts, when I restart the computer this way, next time I login to unity, my desktop fonts look so ugly with rough edges. Also the address bar fonts change and they get the same ugly big looks.

Anyone has any idea how to fix these two issues?
