    Programmer's OS

Is there such a thing? What do you think would make one? Are there any distros/operating systems that you would consider to be a Programmer's OS?

    Re: Programmer's OS

I think that most distros could be considered programmer's OS in the sense that they all provide the tools(IDEs.etc) that a programmer would need. So at the end of the day it all comes down to personal preference .

Linux is already a programmer-oriented OS. Do you see anything like gcc or gedit bundled with Windows?

gcc is not "bundled" with most Linux distros either, and no decent programmer uses gedit.
