I have an ASUS UX31E laptop and I would like to install Ubuntu on it (probably Lubuntu or Xubuntu). As the UX31E does not have a built-in Ethernet port and I do not have access to wifi, I am using a "Logilink UA0025C USB 2.0 to Fast Ethernet Adapter" in Windows. However, as I am planning to install Ubuntu on this laptop, I have been trying to find out if there are drivers for this device for Linux. I have found a .zip on the Logilink website containing the (C) source code for a Linux driver for the device (http://www.2direkt.de/i-sell2u/image...er/UA0025C.zip). However, I have no experience manually building and installing device drivers in Linux.
Is there a driver for the Logilink UA0025C device in the kernel or must I install it manually? If I have to install it manually, how do I do so? The readme says something about needing the kernel source code. Do I really need to compile my own kernel to use the device with Linux?
