Marlin file manager - selected item is unreadable

Hi, I've decided to change the default file manager on my girlfriend's Lubuntu 12.04 laptop from PCManFM to Marlin. The justification for this is that PCManFM doesn't have pretty icons for the different home folder types (an essential for the young lady!) and it doesn't have a bookmark shortcut for the network to access my NAS.

I like everything about Marlin thus far, except for a really annoying quirk that means the selected item is unreadable because the name becomes a white block. Please see the Document folder in the attached pic for an example

I've tried changing the icon theme in Lubuntu, but that doesn't help.

I suppose the other option is to advise on how I can alter PCManFM to show the stylised folder icons for Pictures, Document etc and add a bookmark for my NAS!

Any advice is much appreciated, Jesse.

If this affects anyone else, I've worked around it by changing the theme of Lubuntu away from the default.
