Strange shutdown behaviour !

Machine: Dell Inspiron 1440
OS: Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit

Problem: Until first and second upgrades, shutdown would function normally. After installation of a bunch of apps, including tasksel to install lamp server, shutdown would hang up like forever.

The last action i did was inserting the same USB i used to install 12.04 on this very machine. Now when i try to shut my machine down, it just restarts and restarts.... only hard shutdown would work.

This 12.04 seems to have a lot of problems,errors and some bugs as well... please help.

I guess the problem of certain such behaviors were bad .iso of ubuntu that i downloaded. A fresh installation made everything work fine.
