    Ubuntu boot

    HI!
    I have a question about how Ubuntu boot sceen works. It is not a problem, but just a theoretical question.
    I installed Fedora 16 once with encrypted filesystem. And when i booted it the boot screen was really nice and password prompt was nicely designed.
    But When i install Ubuntu 12.04 with encrypted filesystem (using alternate cd) the boot sceen is very ugly.

    I would just want to know what is the difference between Ubuntu and for example Fedora boot screen. Why is Fedora's boot screen nice and Ubuntu's so ugly when using encrrypted filesystem.

    This thin is bothering me since Ubuntu 8.04. I was waiting very long hoping that someday it will be fixed...

    So, i am just asking for explanation and not for soultion, because i havent found one myself till now... But I am really curious =)

    Thanks!

    Re: Ubuntu boot

    The boot screen in Ubuntu and Fedora is Grub2, grub2 can be themed or customised or you can install Burg.

    The Grub2 splash screen in Ubuntu has a purple backgriound and white text,
    possibly not as nice looking as Fedora, but much better than some other distributions.
    Linux Mint for example, uses plain back screen with white text, that has not been seen since 1990.

    If you want to change your background or customize grub2, have a look at this thread;

    or community page;

    Yes, I know that.
    But my question is why on encrypted Fedora plymouth works perfectly, but on encrypted Ubuntu it is ugly?

    Re: Ubuntu boot

    You're showing me a screenshot of a virtual machine.
    If you are running Ubuntu through a virtual machine then it will look different.

    Are you running Ubuntu on a virtual machine?
    If not try and post the screenshot of it displaying normal plymouth bootsplash.
