Update Manager no longer prompts for permission

    Hi all,

In 12.04 update manager no longer prompts for permission/password to go about it's business. Is anyone else getting this?

It is a different bahaviour to 10.04.

Apparently if the update is installing something new it will require the password. If it is simply updating what is already installed it does not.

That was changed in 11.10 and the found the reasons why with a search. I don't have link at the moment , but it should be easy to find.
