Because it hasn't returned to... the prompt line? What is that line called that says: myName@computerName:~$
Instead it's just a blank line.

Close the terminal and see if your wireless come to life if not run the commands again.

It should have complete and returned back to the line you posted.

Did you run it with sudo -su? if so you can type exit and see if that returns you to the line.
    Thanks

Re: 12.04 wireless issue - driver is active, but no networks

I used ctrl+C to halt the command and then I closed the terminal. I did not use sudo -su, just sudo.

I still don't have wireless but I received errors for the two rmmod commands so perhaps that is why? It gave these two errors for the two commands,
    Code:
ERROR: Removing 'b43': No such file or directory
ERROR: Removing 'ssb': Device or resource busy

I am also having wireless connectivity issues, but with Ubuntu 13.04. I am dual booting Windows 7 and Ubuntu on a Lenovo B570, and I have a BCM4313 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Controller. I installed Ubuntu from a live usb stick.

Re: 12.04 wireless issue - driver is active, but no networks

had to make firmware-b43-installer say firmware-b43-lpphy-installer but this worked for me, did this last time i installed ubuntu though and the wireless connection wouldnt maintain across boots, add to keep using network manager to reconnect even though the connection was saved and set to auto connect. worked this time though. thanks!

    Hi Wild Man,

hopefully you can help me. I have a similar problem on an asus 1001p netbook with ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I am new to Ubuntu. Thanks a lot! Here are my outputs:

    Hi, please do:
    Code:
    sudo modprobe ath9k
if it does not come on please copy and paste this command in the terminal (ctrl+alt+t) please:
    Code:
     wget -N -t 5 -T 10 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/57264241/wireless_script && chmod +x wireless_script && ./wireless_script
It will download a script and create a file named (wireless-info.txt, or wireless-info.txt.tar.gz) in your home folder with wireless information so we can see the condition of your wireless at this time and the Mac address, WPA key and WEP key are removed for your security, then reply back, click on the paper clip and attach the wireless-info.tar.gz file as a zip file.

If you do not have ethernet either then follow the directions at this link for running the script without internet.

    Hi Wild Man,

thanks for your answer. May be worth to mention: the "wired" connection is working flawless.

Here is what I get after following your indications:

    sudo modprobe ath9k
    ------------------------
WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper, it will be ignored in a future release.

I also run the second command. The output files will be attached in my next reply.

    Thank you!

Do you have access to the router? There are some settings that need to be changed.
    Thanks
