Re: HOWTO: Broadcom 4318 Wireless Cards

I just ran "lspci | grep Broadcom"
    And this was my result:

0000:000:0c.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02)

So I do have a 4318 nic card no?

Re: HOWTO: Broadcom 4318 Wireless Cards

Ahh, I give up. I was happy with getting Korean IM working first, but now it looks like I'll have to reinstall Edgy and try getting this going first. At least now I'm practically an expert on wireless. Kinda like Edison. "I now know 999 ways how NOT to make an electric light." Or something. I just hope it works off a clean install.

    Yep, thats a bcm4318.

I've read through your old posts and now I've got some questions:
Are you running Dapper or Edgy?
If it's Edgy: did you upgrade or do a clean install?
Please post the .log-file generated by the script. You'll find it on your desktop after running the script. Post it as an attachment or with [code]-tags, if you copy and paste.

With Dapper and NetworkManager my bcm4318 (on a HP nx6110) worked with the (old) script) after a reboot. So in this case I have no ideas what to do.

On Edgy the wireless would only work after installing a lot more packages the the script does. Take a look at this post, so you can download the packages manually from http://packages.ubuntu.com/ (the version may vary):

    http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=1676536&postcount=16

As an alternative, you can do everything manually, which is best for debugging. Essentially, you would do everything the script does with the difference, that if something fails, you'll know it immediately. Here's a nice how-to:

    http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=285809

You can simply copy and paste the commands, though you won't need to download the drivers again, since the script already has them included. So just take it from there.

Re: HOWTO/SCRIPT: Broadcom 4318 Wireless Cards

Posted a new version of the script with a few minor additions. If you have been having trouble with it, download the new version from the first post, and give it another go.

The modifications will have the script try and clean up previous messes made by other attempts at installing ndiswrapper, namely by removing already installed bcmwl5 and bcmwl5a drivers installed with ndiswrapper.

It also adds more info to the log file, for better troubleshooting.

Re: HOWTO: Broadcom 4318 Wireless Cards

I did a fresh install of 6.10 and ran the script on my Compaq v2000. My wireless card doesnt even show up in the newtworking window. It just shows the wired connection. when i type lspci | grep Broadcom it says there is a 4318 card. But its still not even showing up in the networking window. I checked the BIOS and it says the wireless card is enabled. I have no idea how to fix this. If it helps heres the log file from when i ran this script. Thanks.
