    screen recording for ubuntu 12.04

I am looking for a screen recording software, and am having trouble finding one I like. I installed Kazam, which seems to be great, except audio is rather quiet, and on top of that there's static noise, even when video audio should be quiet. I have found recordmydesktop, but it is too difficult to select a specified region to record.

Any help on getting past those problems on either of those two programs?
Is there any other screen recording software that fits my criteria?

EDIT: I have found video editors that allow me to crop, so that is no problem now, but I am getting static noise in both kazam and recordmydesktop, how can I get rid of this.
