11.10 and 12.04 giving me really slow internet

I've been using Ubuntu for a while, but lately it messes up my internet speeds to the point where I can't even check for updates to software properly. It's so bad that I can barely load web pages. And now that I'm trying to install 12.04, I can't even pull the language packs off the internet because it simply can't download something of that size. But I was also having the problem on 11.10.

The strange thing is that even my router's control panel (accessed with 192.168.0.1) has just as much trouble loading. And that only requires network access, not internet access.

Another strange thing is that it all works perfectly fine on Windows.

Other than that, about all I know to say is that my laptop is a Toshiba Satellite M645-S4050, and that I got this from running the "sudo iwconfig" command:

    Code:
    lo no wireless extensions.

    wmx0 no wireless extensions.

    wlan0 IEEE 802.11abgn ESSID:"dlink"

              Encryption key:off
              Power Management:off
              Link Quality=53/70 Signal level=-57 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
              Tx excessive retries:138 Invalid misc:80 Missed beacon:0

    eth0 no wireless extensions.
EDIT: I'll throw "lspci -v" in there too:

I'm having somewhat similiar issues my wireless card is a Realtek 8188/8192CE I'm able to use mine but i get timeouts, intermitency issues and just extremely slow speeds. It's quite frustrating and having a look arround the forums lately there is alot of problems with these Realtek Drivers/Cards.

I thought it might be because of the driver... I see, I guess Realtek is the problem.

But have you found a solution to the problem? I have no idea how to resolve it...

Try to change Network Adapter. With me it works fine after moving to the another network card.
Looks like real problem with hardware communication.

Well, I only have one wireless network adapter... I don't really have another that I can switch to.

Re: 11.10 and 12.04 giving me really slow internet

    Hi, please do:
    Code:
    sudo ifconfig wlan0 down
    sudo rmmod -f iwlwifi
    sudo modprobe iwlwifi 11n_disable=1
    sudo ifconfig wlan0 up
do not reboot if it works we will need to make it permanent.
    Edit: Fixed code.
    Thanks
