Stuck at low resolution using Nvidia Current drivers!! HELP!!!!

Okay, so I installed the current Nvidia drivers using the terminal command:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install nvidia-current
And now my laptop is stuck at the resolution 1024x768, when it should be 1280x800!!!
This resolution makes the desktop look like crap, so how do I uninstall the drivers?!?!

This is what the command said:
    Code:
    Using X configuration file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf".

VALIDATION ERROR: Data incomplete in file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
Device section "Default Device" must have a Driver line.

Backed up file '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' as '/etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup'
New X configuration file written to '/etc/X11/xorg.conf'
and my GPU is the Nvidia Geforce FX Go5200

Re: Stuck at low resolution using Nvidia Current drivers!! HELP!!!!

My 12.04 install offered me a nvidia-current-updates package yesterday. Although it made no visible difference here, maybe it would for you. If you can find the application that lest you choose hardware drivers. I can't seem to find it on Xubuntu.

I think that I'm just going to uninstall the driver... I'd rather stick with Unity 2D then have to go through all of this trouble!

try editing that last section to make it look more like this
    Code:
    Section "Screen"
        Identifier "Screen0"
        Device "Device0"
        Monitor "Monitor0"
        DefaultDepth 24
        Option "TwinView" "0"
        Option "metamodes" "1600x900_60 +0+0"
        SubSection "Display"
            Depth 24
        EndSubSection
    EndSection
be sure to put the underlined part right for your screen
    width x height _ hrz
    then logout out and in

I've already uninstalled the driver (which immediately helped) but I'll keep that in mind should I ever be in a situation where I would want to try that again. But how do I edit that...?
