    Ubuntu 12.04 External monitor issue

I installed Ubuntu 12.04 onto my Lenovo T61 and it came up on my external monitor fine during the install and after logging in and using the OS for a while. Then I saw a message about "Additional Drivers".
NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version current) (Recommended).

    -Tested by the Ubuntu developers
    -License: Propriety

Then it goes on to say that it will provide 3D graphics that will be required for 3D Unity ,etc........

I clicked to Activate the driver and it downloaded the driver and installed it.

Then it asked for a restart and after the restart I could see the GRUB boot loader on the external monitor and the Ubuntu log in, but after inputting the log in info the external monitor goes black and loses the video signal. I have tested it a few times and the ext. monitor will go black right before it gets to the Ubuntu log in screen as well sometimes.

Should I deactivate the new driver?

Re: Ubuntu 12.04 External monitor issue

My issue after activating the driver is that the system does NOT output to the external VGA display at all. (Lid closed, I just use the external).

So I just deactivate the driver, the hell with it....

Now I remember why I stayed with Jaunty all these time.
