    11.10 - Recovery mode doesn't start

    Hi,

I'm wondering why the recovery mode doesn't start on my laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad E420); Ubuntu 11.10 work perfect, but the recovery mode crash my laptop. I tried running the recovery from different kernels, but no change. The only message I see when I run recovery mode is this:

    Code:
    Loading Linux 3.0.0-17-generic ...
    Loading initial memory disk ...
Then I get a black screen. I wait for like 10 minutes, nothing happen, and I have to shut down my laptop using the Power button.

Here's my GRUB.CFG file, is that can help:

    Thanks for the help!
I don't know how to fix the recovery, but you can always make a copy of your system with Remastersys for now in case it does fail and you need to reinstall/restore everything.

    http://debianhelp.wordpress.com/2012...-in-ubuntu-os/

I don't know if it can be fixed. But I would definitely backup your system with Remastersys for now until there is a fix. Especially if you are going to be messing around with your grub settings, and hose your presently working system with unhelpful advice found on here.

    Sweet!

I made a fresh install of 12.04, and it work! :O I was not expecting that!
    Well then, solved!

And thanks for telling me about Remastersys; didn't knew, but I'll definitely have a look.
