run system76 driver in linux mint

I have a panp7 and Just installed Linux Mint 12. I would like to use the system76 driver, but I get a message indicating that the driver is only for Ubuntu.

I understand that Mint is based on Ubuntu, so, is there a way that I can get the system76 driver to run on Mint? Even if it's not supported?

If not, can someone tell me what specificaly the system76 driver does for panp7, and how I might do simmilar installs on my own?

In Mint 12, the System76 Driver won't do anything. All of the drivers for the PanP7 are provided by Ubuntu after 11.04.
