Re: New members cannot auto-subscribe to threads?
Based on forestpiskie's response, I'd like to offer some words of advice (for what they're worth). Especially, to new members.
One of the most important tools on this forum (IMHO) is the search functions. Should one just invest a little time learning how to use them, the benefits are tremendous. It's one of the first things I always suggest to new users - join these forums and learn to use the search functions.
For example, I've not started many threads in the support areas since first migrating to Ubuntu and joining the forums. Primarily because solutions for almost all of my issues were already available on the forums. By using the search functions I've been able to resolve most all my issues quickly and with minimum investment.
I've said it before, these forums are a wealth of information for anyone who uses Ubuntu/Linux. The information is often available in moments and with little effort. There's a good chance that if you experiencing a problem, other users may have already experienced the same or a similar problem and have already requested/received assistance. By using the search functions one can quickly and efficiently locate other threads that may contain the much needed information/solution(s).
I'm not suggesting that every solution currently exists on the forums. Only, that by running a search before starting a new thread - your efforts may yield in a quick and beneficial result.
