I just stumbled across this as I too live in Alabama and I too use Ubuntu. I'm kind of saddened to see that this forum has not been used all that recently from the posts. Is anyone still out there?

I have been on Linux for about 4 months now and I too have fallen in love with it. How often is this place active in the Team Alabama forum?

Just upgraded Ubuntu 10.04 LTS to 12.04 LTS on my desktop and so for I'm loving it !!!
Long time user but short on staying in contact with other users as I'm usually on my laptop or phone running off wifi router.
