Hello all,

I am a new user to Ubuntu and I would like to be able to network (connect) and share files on all of my computers in my home. This is what I have:

laptop 1- Windows 7 connects wireless to router
laptop 2 - Ubuntu 11 connects wireless to router
PC - Ubuntu 11 wired directly to router

I have Samba installed on both Ubuntu systems and I have followed the on-line tutorials posted in various forums. All computers are on the same work group, but I can't see Samba shares or Windows shares on either.

when I am on the Ubuntu systems I can see the other computers under network-windows network but every time I click on it it asks me for a user name and password. My user name and passwords are the same for both Ubuntu systems, the Windows one is different. No matter what password set I use it doesn't accept.

Is there anyway I can get rid of these permissions? Also, does anyone have any suggestions to get this to work?

I just want to be able to share my files in between computers.
