New Remastersys Test packages 3.0.2-1 supporting Ubuntu 12.04

Supports versions 10.04 to 12.04 Ubuntu and variants.

I have posted up some new test packages for remastersys 3.0.2-1.

I have split off the gui to its own package and this one has a brand new gui created in BaCon - http://www.basic-converter.org with the HUG gui.

Added ubiquity-frontend-debconf as a dependency to prevent synaptic from installing ALL of the frontends causing a lot of packages to be installed that aren't needed.

Code cleanup and fixes for Ubuntu 12.04.

The gui now lets you view the log file directly making it easier to copy and paste it here to the forum. I believe the gui now makes more sense and should be easier to use for users new to remastersys.

You can set the default grub background for your system with remastersys-gui.

You can create a simple plymouth theme for your system with remastersys-gui.

You can preview the newly created plymouth theme with remastersys-gui.

You can select which plymouth theme is set to be the default for your system with remastersys-gui.

You can set the live system boot menu background picture with remastersys-gui.

You can copy your user settings to be the default for the live system - copies certain folders and files from your chosen user to /etc/skel which is the new user folder skeleton and removes config files or folders that would cause user creation to fail.

Please try it out and post feedback in this thread.

Re: New Remastersys Test packages 3.0.2-1 supporting Ubuntu 12.04

I had to abandon the new gui due to problems with 64-bit. The gtk gui is back as the default gui.

I have put the packages also for direct download at http://www.remastersys.com/downloads right now and when this is tested enough I'll add a precise signed repository.

If you installed the remastersys-gui, uninstall it prior to installing remastersys-gtk.

I will have to recompile the gui for 64-bit but I'm not ready for that yet. That might make it back into the package for 3.0.3-1

Re: New Remastersys Test packages 3.0.2-1 supporting Ubuntu 12.04

I decided to setup a 64-bit partition and compiled the gui in 64-bit as well so now it works as intended on 64-bit(amd64).

New packages are up with the new gui. If you don't want to go to my forum, you can get them from this downloads folder on my website.

    http://www.remastersys.com/downloads

The gui will be in i386 and amd64 from now on and the main base cli package will work for either architecture.

    I'll give 64 bit a try with 12.04, thanks!

Let me know how it works for you. I have been testing in 64-bit myself for a few days and it seems to be behaving properly.

    Hi,
Downloaded .deb from the link in

Double-clicked the .deb and Ubuntu Software Centre gave this I'm afraid to say:

Re: New Remastersys Test packages 3.0.2-1 supporting Ubuntu 12.04

You need to install the new base remastersys 3.0.2-1 first and then the gui.

I split the main off from the gui so if folks don't want a gui or anything remastersys to show up in the menu they can still use just the base remastersys cli package. When upgrading from the older version you must install the base package first which will upgrade to the new version and then the gui.

Thanks for that (note to self - read posts carefully!!) GUI now opens properly and all looks familiar.
I'll try running a backup in the next day or so.
