Thunderbird: writing a plain text message, how to make font larger

Hello

I'm trying out Thunderbird with the Lightening plug-in as an e-mail / calendar alternative to Evolution. I'm using Gnome-Shell

I prefer to send plain text e-mails.

When composing messages, the font that Thunderbird uses on Ubuntu seems very small. I can't find how to make the font larger. See screenshot.

Has anyone cracked this one? I've googled, and suggestions include using Zoom text (not available in compose window) and changing the HTML font in the compose window (I want to send plain text messages)

Edit > Preferences > Appearance, I think. I don't use Thunderbird. You might try ClawsMail since you prefer plain text anyway. Very fast, ultralight, and simple.

Worked it out...

Its Edit -> Preferences -> Display

Those settings only control the Write Message window if you go to

• Edit | Account Settings
• Composition and Addressing
• Tick the option Compose messages in HTML format

Then to ensure your recipients don't get sent rich text or HTML formatted e-mails, you go to

• Edit | Preferences
• General tab
• Click the Send Options button towards the bottom of the dialog box
• Under the Text Format heading, click on the option and select Convert message to plain text

I used to use Sylpheed mail, nice and simple, but I'd like to start using a calendar. Evolution still has the font size in printing bug, so its Lightening plug-in within Thunderbird.
