Those instructions are contained in the 2nd link of post #1. It is simply a matter of copying and pasting
except for the driver version name. Which you will have to modify.
If you're not comfortable doing the commands, I would not even do this. Because if you do not follow them exactly as stated
on the web pages you will have a system that does not boot. If you install the driver in this manner, you must perform the steps
in the 3rd link to make the script and move the driver or else when a kernel gets installed in the future, the driver will not be
loaded into the kernel and that kernel will not boot.
I am just supplying the 3 links. I have not performed this on 11.10 myself.
You might be better off using the xswat ppa which will keep your nvidea driver up to date.
Although I am unaware of how it will work on 11.10 here are the commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current
Then reboot after wards. That is probably the safest way to keep your driver up to date,
